Small Pantry Organization

Tips for Small Pantry Organization

If you have multiple kitchen drawers and cabinets, you may not know which to use for storing specific kitchen items. There are plenty of ways to organize your pantry and we will share our tips on organizing your kitchen space so you can easily fit all of your belongings.

Consider Every Open Space as an Option for Storage & Get Creative

If your kitchen has cabinet space above the sink, we recommend using this to store extra items that can not fit in your pantry. Your pantry may have specific items that you frequently use so you can use this cabinet to store other kitchen items/supplies that aren’t used as often. If there is space below your countertop or sink, you can also use this as extra storage space for kitchen supplies. This is a great space to store larger pots and pans that can not fit in the cabinets above the countertop.

Install a Pull-Out Pantry

Adding new kitchen space can be expensive but there are alternative options that do not require construction. Consider purchasing a pull-out pantry for your kitchen. These handy storage cabinets are very convenient and easy to install. The compartments slide open with ease for you to store all of your cooking supplies, spices, and snacks. everything from cooking supplies and spices to snacks! In addition, they come in various sizes so you do not have to worry about them taking up too much space in your kitchen. Depending on the layout of your kitchen, you can place it in between spaces so it does not block the refrigerator or countertop.

Keep a Handle on Food Storage Containers

It is important that the items in your pantry are packed and stored correctly. Stacking your containers from tallest to shortest will maximize the space in your pantry while providing easy access to your items. If the shelves in your pantry are very high, consider placing delicate items on the lower shelves to avoid any potential avalanches that can occur. We suggest storing your empty containers on the higher shelves. If they were to fall, there would be minimal damage since these items are not as delicate and heavy.

Group Your Pantry Items

Pantries can often get cluttered and there are times when we do not know where everything is located. We suggest categorizing the items in your pantry so your supplies can be more organized. This will help you when searching for specific items to use and you no longer will have to dig through your entire pantry. Here are some categories you can use to organize the pantry space:

  • Cans
  • Pasta/Grains
  • Bread/Rolls
  • Breakfast Food
  • Snacks
  • Spices
  • Bottles/Beverages

    Stack When You Can

If the shelves in your pantry have enough space between them, stack your kitchen supplies on top of one another. Place large objects at the bottom and stack the lighter ones on top. If certain items still can not fit on top of one another, try turning them on their sides so they can fit. Any extra items that can not be stacked should be placed on another shelf or in a different cabinet.
