Scot Stor Inc. Mini Storage would like to answer some questions you may have about how our Self Storage works so you can have a great self-storage experience. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions.

How do I get started?

Either call our office to check availability or come by in person (252-435-2531 / 378 Caratoke Hwy., Moyock, NC. 27958) Office Hours: Monday - Saturday 8 a.m. to 5p.m., closed on Sundays.

What type of documents do I need to provide to rent a storage unit?

You will need to provide a valid, goverment issued form of identification (e.q., Drivers License, State ID or Military ID) with a photo. If you are storing a boat/camper/trailer.motorcycle or automobile you will need a current license plate on the item being stored, a registration and current insurance card.

What size storage units do you have?

Our storage sizes range from 5'x10', 10'x10', 10'x15', 10'x20', 15'x20' and about 8 feet high (all dimensions are approximate). Our outdoor parking spaces will accomodate the larger travel trailer. Check out our Size Guide to determine the right amount of space for you.

Do you have climate control units?

Yes. Our climate control units are designed to maintain a set temperature range depending on the outside temperature and season.

Do you offer RV/boat/car/motorcycle parking?

Most of our units are designed to store personal or business belongings. We offer parking spaces for boats, campers, cars, trucks, etc. We can also allow car storage in our 10'x20' units and motorcycles in a unit as small as 5'x10'.

Does Scot Stor, Inc. Mini Storage provide locks? Do you keep a key to my storage unit?

Yes, we provide you with a free lock at the time of your move-in. No, we do not keep a key to your lock. The lock comes with two (2) keys and no one else has a key to that lock.

When can I have access to my unit?

Scot Stor, Inc. Mini Storage gives you 24 hour access, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If I rent a storage unit with you, can my family and friends have access too?

You can allow access to the people of your choosing. You are the only one with the keys to your lock, so you control the access.

If I lose my key what do I do?

Call Scot Stor, Inc. Mini Storage at 252-435-2531 or stop by our office during business hours to schedule a time for your lock to be removed. There is a $25.00 fee required for the lock removal and that fee is payable before the lock can be removed.

Do I need insurance for my stored items?

You are responsible for the items that you are storing in your Scot Stor, Inc. Mini Storage unit and we do recommend that you have insurance for your belongings. Check with your insurance agent to see if your current coverage will cover  your items while in storage. Or we can offer information for a Self-Storage Insurance company.

Can I rent in person or by telephone?

You must come into our office to rent your storage unit (378 Caratoke Hwy. Moyock, NC. 27958). We can take inquiries regarding our storage units over the telephone (252-435-2531).

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We offer a 10% discount to Senior Citizens age 55 and older and we also offer a 10% discount to our men and women in the military, even retired military and dependents.

Do you send out monthly bill reminders?

No. We do not send out monthly bill reminders. The rent on your storage unit is due on the 1st of each month, you have until the close of business (5 p.m.) on the 7th of each month to make your payment without incurring a late fee ($15).

What do I do if there is a red lock on my storage unit?

A red lock on the storage unit means the rent is delinquent. You can either stop by our office or give us a call to make that payment. When the account is brought current our red lock will be removed.
